1200°C Crystalline Dark Blue

1200°C Crystalline Dark Blue
Cone 6 / 1200ºC
Oxidation atmosphere
A crystalline dark blue glaze with an interesting surface. This glaze is glossy and slightly transparent where it is thin and becomes matte where it is thick which creates a subtle sense of depth. This is a stable glaze with medium fluidity when it is fired to 1200°C.
The images show the glaze applied over a slightly speckled stoneware fired to 1200°C in an oxidation atmosphere and cooled slowly. Results may vary slightly depending on the kiln, the chemical composition of raw materials, and the type of stoneware.
