1220°C Satin-Matte Black Brown

1220°C Satin-Matte Black Brown
Cone 7 / 1220ºC
Oxidation atmosphere
A satin-matte/matte black brown glaze with a smooth texture, breaking to black on rims and edges. Although this glaze was made with my satin-matte base recipe, it is slightly more matte than the other glazes in this series. This is a stable glaze with medium fluidity when it is fired to 1220°C.
The images show the glaze applied over a slightly speckled stoneware fired to 1220°C in an oxidation atmosphere and cooled slowly. Results may vary depending on the kiln, the chemical composition of raw materials, and the type of stoneware.
